Wedding organised in wintertime can be brilliant idea. You just have to make sure everything is in its right place. Winter wedding can be really glamorous and memorable one. Below we gathered some nice tips and ideas for these of you who consider marrying in winter.

You attire also should be matched well to the season. Many brides decide to marry in winter because of beautiful winter accessories. What is it made of?

Most of wedding bands are made of gold, but you can choose as well silver, titanium, platinum or even tungsten. When buying gold bands, you have to consider two things: which carat to choose and what combination of colours is the best for you. Yellow gold is most popular, whilst white gold can combine nice with both yellow gold and silver, and it is sometimes used as cheaper version of platinum.

What is “carat”? It is plainly gold content of the metal. The more carats, the higher the price. How to check the carats? You have to look on the marks inside the band. Usually you can find there mark of the manufacturer and quality mark, represented by number of carats.

Some people tend to choose wedding bands made of titanium. It is hardest natural metal in the world, and some think of it as a symbol of their everlasting love. Titanium is also very strong and scratch resistant. You need to remember, that all of these metals except tungsten will sooner or later become scratched.

Matching rings?

Lots of couples decide to buy matching wedding rings. It is not a rule, though. If you feel like it, you may choose something different than your partner. There are few theories about origins of tuxedo. Most people tend to think that it’s the invention of Pierre Lorillard IV, wealthy tobacco magnate living in 19th century. Some other disagree and are absolutely convinced that tuxedo was invented for Prince of Wales by Henry Poole & Co. One thing is sure – it gained popularity very quickly.

If you consider buying a tuxedo, you should know where and when to wear it. You can put it on not only on biggest occasions such as wedding reception, but also at the opera, ball, formal dinners or when the invitations states some of these: formal, black tie or black tie invited.

What is important? Of course your tuxedo should fit you well. It may seem an easy task, but try some tuxedos in dressing room and you’ll see that buying it can become your worst nightmare. So, how to size each part of tuxedo?

• jacket – most important element of tux. The bottom hem of the jacket should cover the butt and the vent shouldn’t pull open. Try it while standing and while sitting. You should be able to fasten it easily. Jacket sleeve should be hemmed at wrist bone and hug your shoulders well;
• collar – it should lie flat on the back and the neck;
• shirt – about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch of your shirt’s cuff should show below the jacket sleeve;
• pants – the hem should break just over your shoe tops so that it covers the top 1/3;
• tie – you would probably choose bowtie, as it looks very elegant and traditional. Some of you prefer rather necktie. It is also possible for you to choose no tie at all, but honestly I wouldn’t recommend it;
• shoes – at the reception you are probably going to dance, so your shoes must be comfortable. It is better to buy shoes that are a little to roomy. And remember to try new shoes at the end of the day!

Also remember: there are different kinds of jackets. Some of them would be better for your figure, on the other hand some would make you look terrible. Your jacket can be single-breasted (and have one to four buttons on the front) or double-breasted (two to six buttons). There are also three different styles of lapels, from least formal notched lapel to shawl collar and peaked lapel.

Money

First of all – cash! Everybody needs it, no one would be offended to get it. And it saves you a lot of time and thinking. Some couples may consider it too materialistic and unceremonious. If you have a suspicion, that it could be this case, you should rather go for a gift. Money is also a little bit uncreative. If you’re low on cash, it’s better to buy a gift than give your hosts small amount of money.

Jewellery

Even trinkets made from gold, platinum or silver are good choice. They will last forever (or at least long…) and remind couple of you and their special day. For the bride you can choose something really precious, maybe with diamonds? You can also have jewellery engraved, for example with bride and groom’s names.

Tickets

For example for dream travel. Romantic getaway would make a perfect gift for almost every couple. There is only one trap included: you should make sure they have some free time. You can also buy tickets for interesting event. If they both enjoy same kind of music, ticket for concert would be great idea.

Liquors

Especially wine. Champagne or whisky also can be a good choice, if only newly weds like that kind of alcohol. Just wrap it in nice, decorative way and voila! Not to mention, that liquor you plan to give as a gift should be high quality.

Electronics

Digital camera is something very useful nowadays. If – by any chance! – your hosts have no camera or maybe their camera is old, you can buy them one. They would probably be delighted. Giving bride and groom photo book also makes sense. You just need to have some nice shots of them. If you’re a close friend or relative, this would be rather easy. Classy, matching watches are good idea as well.

Wedding expenses

It’s quite a new idea. You may offer before the reception, that you are willing to pay for a portion of wedding expenses. It may not be a most romantic gift, but the couple would be very thankful – that’s for sure!

1. Who’s inviting?

It’s very important to mention, who is announcing the wedding. Usually it’s couple’s parents, but sometimes bride and groom themselves.

2. Request

Request can be formal or more casual. You can write “Mr. and Mrs. Smith request the honour of your presence”, but also “please join us”.

3. Who marries?

Write down names of couple. Bride’s name should be written first, and traditionally only her first and middle name is given. For example:

Mr. Tom Andrew Smith

Of course you can also use alternative, more casual version:

Jane Brown

to

Tom Smith

4. Where and when?

Just write out the date, for example:

“Friday, the eight of July, two thousand eleven, at four o’clock in the afternoon”

Remember: month and day should be capitalized. If ceremony is more casual, it is also possible to write just “Friday, July 8, 2011 at 4 p.m.”

After that list the location and give full address.

5. Reception

If you’re inviting guests for party, you should let them know that. You can do it on separate reception card or on include it on the wedding invitation. If there would be just dessert, mention it in the invitation.

6. Response

Nowadays most couples decide to include separate reply card. Such card is almost blank, but you can write some lines, for example simple:

“Please reply before first of July”

7. Useful details

Here you can mention something about clothes. Give your guests some clues about what to wear. If the couple wish not to have children at the reception, include “Adult reception”phrase. Also remember not to write anything about gifts or money. It’s very improper.

Italy – also one of the most popular destinations both for engagements and honeymoons. Maybe you decided to propose by the sea? Italy is the perfect selection in that case. Two big islands: Sicily and Sardinia charm tourists with scenic sights. Mediterranean Sea is warm, so you can swim almost all the time. Don’t forget about Tuscany. It’s full of medieval villages and historical towns, but you can find here sandy beaches as well. Finally you can always propose in the Eternal City – Rome is crowded, but walks around Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are unforgettable experience.

India – maybe you can go a little further? If so, think of going to India. There are lots of place perfect for engagement. What would you say about Taj Mahal? It is widely known all over the world as a symbol of eternal love. That enormous building was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Alternatively you can propose in Jaipur, known as the Pink City.

USA – if you like to wallow in luxury, but also have nothing against hustle and bustle Las Vegas is great choice for you. You can pop the big question while playing blackjack in casino or go a little further and do it on the shores of Lake Mead (largest artificial lake in USA). You may also want to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Yes, Eiffel Tower – there is an exact replica at ½ size of real tower at Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

Canada – Niagara Falls are the most powerful waterfalls in North America and also one of the biggest in the world. It’s very popular destination amongst honeymooners – average of 50,000 choose to celebrate their marriages here each year. Even Jerome Bonaparte, Napoleon’s younger brother took his wife here. You can be original and propose at Niagara Falls. If it’s too commonplace for you, then you can choose Lake Louise. Beautiful turquoise water and tiny hamlet on the shores – can you imagine something more romantic?
